Stonewall Jackson House

Winter Hours 2010

The Stonewall Jackson House will be closed to the public during the months of January and February 2010, except for group tours of 10 or more scheduled at least 48 hours in advance, and except for two special occasions:

  • The house will be open 9:00 to 5:00 on Saturday, January 16, 2023 during the Lee-Jackson celebration in Lexington
  • The House will be open Thursday, January 21, 2023 for its annual celebration of Stonewall Jackson’s birthday with free tours, birthday cake and hot spiced cider.

The site will resume its regular schedule of operation on Monday, March 1, 2010. The Biennial Stonewall Jackson Symposium, which has been offered on even years since 1986, will be held as usual on April 23-24, 2010.

Clock Hours
  • Monday through Saturday,
    9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sundays, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The last tour begins at 4:30 p.m.

Guided tours of the Stonewall Jackson House begin on the hour and half hour. The house is closed on New Year's Day, Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

Lexington, Virginia, is a quiet college town, located 185 miles southwest of Washington, D.C., at the southern end of the beautiful Valley of Virginia.

It is approximately 135 miles from Richmond, Virginia and 54 miles from Roanoke, Virginia, at the junction of I-64 and I-81.

DIRECTIONS FROM INTERSTATES 81 AND 64

Look for the Stonewall Jackson House signs at Lexington, Virginia, exits 188N and 195S off Interstate 81 or exit 55 off Interstate 64. Follow the Historic Lexington Visitor Center "trail blazer" signs to Washington Street in downtown Lexington; the Jackson House is located one block west of the Visitor Center. Public parking is available at the Visitor Center.
