Many students take advantage of the high student-to-faculty ratio in our department to conduct undergraduate research projects of their own choosing. In past we have had students present research at national conferences, publish their findings in national and international journals, earn patents, and compete in national and international robotics competitions.
Students have conducted original research and applied engineering in areas such as biomedicine, microelectronics, robotics, and novel internet technologies, and have worked on interdisciplinary subjects involving other students and professors from the fields of biology, cardiology, law, mathematics, and computer science. Dr. Squire's area of expertise includes biomedical implants, patent litigation, and instrumentation. His students have developed and patented improved endovascular stent deployment catheters and novel uses of internet technologies, including passive health sensing of the geriatric population.
