Friday, March 23 & Saturday, March 24: 2012 Biennial Stonewall Jackson Symposium

General Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson by William Garl Browne, 1869

2012 Biennial

Stonewall Jackson

Symposium

The 2012 Stonewall Jackson Symposium is following a slightly different format from that of previous years.

On Friday, March 23, 2012, the Stonewall Jackson House and the VMI Museum have planned a series of lectures and walking tours that conclude with the VMI parade at 4:30 p.m. The Friday daytime events, Lexington’s Civil War, are free and open to the public. No registration is necessary.

The Saturday event, Stonewall Jackson Symposium Tour of Jackson's 1862 Battles of Cross Keys and Port Republic, requires pre-registration and is limited to the first 100 registrants. Jackson scholars Robert K. Krick and Keith E. Gibson are your guides on a day-long exploration of Cross Keys and Port Republic—battles that almost changed the way we think of Jackson today.

The Biennial Stonewall Jackson Symposium was scheduled to coincide with the 2012 Signature Conference of the Virginia Sesquicentennial of the American Civil War being hosted at the Virginia Military Institute on Thursday, March 22, 2012. Separate registration is required for the Signature Event at VMI, and unfortunately registration for that event has now closed, because all seats have been sold out. Click here for information on how to be added to the waiting list for this one day event.
